Biniam Girmay is one of the defining figures of modern cycling and a true pioneer for African sport. The Eritrean has rewritten the history books by becoming the first Black African rider to win a stage at the Giro d'Italia, the first to win a UCI WorldTour one-day race at Gent–Wevelgem, and the first African rider to win the Tour de France Points Classification. With multiple stage victories at the Tour de France and Giro d'Italia, he has established himself among the world's elite while inspiring a new generation of African cyclists to believe that success at the highest level is possible.
